What is
ICON Resin Infiltration?
It is an effective and minimally invasive restorative treatment for post-ortho white-spot lesions (WSLs) and some congenital hypocalcified enamel lesions (“hypo” spots), ICON Resin Infiltration of white-spot lesions.
ICON Resin Infiltration Benefits
The infiltration can permeate the teeth surfaces in just one visit, preserving enamel integrity and restoring the original color of the teeth! There are no injections, numbing, or drilling involved. It is far less invasive and pricey than fillings or veneers. After bleaching, hype spots that haven’t been treated often look worse. Hypo spots that have been treated with Icon will whiten in the same way that normal tooth enamel does.
ICON Therapy for Early Cavity Lesions
WSLs, or white/yellow/brown developing patches on tooth surfaces, can be improved with ICON therapy. Decalcifications are “pre-cavities” that, if not addressed, might develop into dental cavities, necessitating traditional restorative therapy.
There is no need for tooth structure removal (no drilling) or anesthesia with the ICON procedure. The goal is to stop early cavity lesions from progressing. It’s an excellent choice for teeth with tiny lesions that haven’t developed to the point where “drilling and filling” are required.
